This is a personal book for Nouwen. It is "an extended personal statement of faith" (11) and covers "things that really matter to me" (12). In this book, Nouwen reflects on basic spiritual themes. His chapters on joy, compassion, family, and death are profound and inspiring. In the end, he invites us to continue our faith journey. This may be the best introduction to Nouwen's spirituality available. Great spiritual reading for those who seek a deeper faith!
